This is the first newsletter that I’m sending out “solo” after 7 years of doing my work under Radicals Support Collective! In this email, as in the ones to come, you’ll get the latest updates on my coaching offerings, my podcast project with Joanna Macy and other things that are on my mind! Thanks for signing up. Often times, when I’m sharing about my Feminine Climate Leadership Coaching Group folks will ask me why I love running this program so much and my answer is always: It’s ALL about the community. The group of climate leaders that come together to form each FCL cohort are impressive, brave, deeply loving folks from many corners of the climate community: 🌊 They’re working in the campaign/non-profit space, clean energy, finance, tech and medicine, the arts, coaching and healing... 🌊 Many have been doing climate work for a decade plus and some are fresh out of school and just starting their careers.... 🌊 Many are from the US, and we’ve had folks join from around Europe, South America, the Caribbean and even Australia (accessible session times for folks in Asia/India/Africa are in the works for next year!) The breadth of experience in this group is one of our greatest strengths as a community, but so is the thing that we all share: We are deeply dedicated to leading from our hearts as we do the life long work of creating climate justice. In each cohort, the connections that are built between participants blow me away. I watch them build lasting friendships, cheer each other on, lift each other up, and support each other in the ups and downs of their climate leadership as folks land jobs, leave jobs, start creative projects, step into their power, discover their passions and tend to what breaks their hearts about our world. Time and again, participants tell me that the community is one of the most meaningful parts of the program for them too… “Taking the FCL program was such a powerful experience for me. I got to know and learn from a group of compassionate, supportive and brilliant women around something deeply important to us all: climate justice. I got to explore my values and goals in a deeper way, learned valuable tools to guide me along the path toward my “North Star”, learned the importance of balance and rest in my life, and, to top it all off, had some super fun dance parties! If you’ve got big dreams in making a difference in this world, I would absolutely recommend this program!”
- Amy Castator, climate activist & coach
The great task of building climate justice in our world is work that we’ll be doing for the rest of our lives and it’s so important that we not try to hold it alone. In the FCL community we are reminded that we are so much stronger when we're together. The doors are now open for the next FCL cohort. We begin on June 19th! If you're curious but not sure if it's a fit, schedule a chat with me and let’s explore it together!
An update on the Joanna Macy PodcastFor the last 9 months, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with my beloved friend and mentor Joanna Macy to make our upcoming podcast “We Are The Great Turning” which we’re releasing at the end of this year with Sounds True! It’s been a helluva journey so far and we just completed the first recording phase of the project. We’ve gathered over 30 beautiful hours of conversations between Joanna and I about climate change, spirituality, hope, despair and so much more… I’ve just begun re-listen to these recordings to start giving the pod form and I cannot wait to start sharing snippets from those conversations with you all here (so stay tuned!) How you can help: I’m currently looking for my dream production partner for this project… I’m looking for someone well versed in climate/spirituality and ideally Joanna’s work, with 8+ years of experience in audio/radio production who can be the creative partner who will help me take these wonderful raw recordings and turn them into beautiful podcast episodes over the next 7 months… anyone interested in this role can reach out to me at Jess@radicalsupport.org. Some of my favorite things from the world wide web (and the wide world):🌎 My friend Britt Wray writes one of the best climate newsletters out there. If you’re not subscribed yet, I can’t recommend enough that you sign up for GenDread, her smart, insightful newsletter about “staying sane in the climate crisis”. You can thank me later ;) 🎶 The song “Catalyst” by Rising Appalachia has been my unofficial theme song for FCL since the project’s inception... this is what I put on (and dance to) when I need to feel in my body the wisdom and power of Feminine Climate Leadership... 🌎 I recently read “Erosion” by Terry Tempest Williams as anyone who I spoke to during that time can attest, the whole book moved me deeply. I love TTW’s wild, spiritual love for Earth… here’s one of my favorite quotes from the book: “Whatever i know as a woman about spirituality I have learned from my body encountering Earth. Soil and soul are not separate. Neither are wind and spirit, nor water and tears. We are eroding and evolving, at once, like the red rock landscape before me. Our grief is our love. Our love will be our undoing as we quietly disengage from the collective madness of the patriarchal mind that says aggression is the way forward… the divine feminine is not a mystical presence outside us but an embodied presence within us made of flesh and bones, xylem and phloem, fur and scales, inhabiting every inch of this planet we call home.” Grateful to be in community with you,- Jess |
